Max Wolstencroft is a British architect and interior designer based in Stockholm, Sweden and working internationally.
The studio takes a delicate and thoughtful approach to individual design projects with a focus on high end residential and commercial projects, working with design-interested clients who look for a something exceptional.
Functionality, durability and comfort are the prime components of the work, with an architectural language which is not shy of aesthetics, but resists fashion and trends.
The studio explores the spaces around us, the objects we put in them and the people who make them. Bridging architecture, design and art, we treat them as interplay rather than as separate entities, with an aspiration of enduring values and aesthetics.
Max’s experience and expertise comes from working for clients across the globe, working on some of the most exceptional private homes and luxury fashion brands. Now the young studio aims to bring this experience forward with an ambitious international clientele to continue creating strong, unique designs.

Architectural Services
Client Brief & Design
Every project begins with a conversation and thorough understanding of client ambitions. The process starts by setting a clear visual direction, drawing on both modern and historic references and imagery. From there, the general spatial design and layout are established, forming the framework for the project. This stage also includes a thorough exploration and development of materials, with the design presented through drawings and renders physical samples to give a clear sense of the final outcome. Together, these steps define the foundation for a space that is both purposeful and inspiring.
Tender Process
With the design agreed upon, detailed tender (pricing) packages are prepared and coordinated with trusted contractors and consultants. This ensures transparent pricing, accurate comparisons, and the selection of the right team to deliver the project.
Building Permissions
Parallel to the design & tender process, all necessary planning and building permission documents can be prepared and submitted in both the UK and Sweden. For projects in other countries, collaboration is established with a trusted local architect to ensure compliance with regional regulations and processes.
Construction Documents
This stage brings together all the detailed drawings and specifications required for construction. The package is developed in close coordination with the necessary sub-consultants, ensuring that every technical aspect of the project is addressed. With clarity across structure, services, and finishes, the documentation provides contractors with the information needed to deliver the design accurately and to the highest standard.
Overseeing Construction
During construction, the project is closely monitored to ensure the highest standards are maintained. Regular site visits and clear communication keep the build aligned with the original vision, while maintaining quality, timelines, and budgets.
Interior Design & Furnishing
Max Wolstencroft offers a full ‘turn-key’ interior service.
Furnishing has the power to elevate a project to another level, bringing depth, character, and atmosphere to the architecture. This service can run in parallel with the architectural design process or be offered as a standalone commission. The process covers everything from concept through to final installation, ensuring spaces are not only well designed but also fully lived-in and complete.
Client Brief & Design
The furnishing design begins with an overall scope of what is needed, created in dialogue with the client. Working with a vast international network of suppliers, this can include integrating existing client pieces, sourcing new furniture, selecting antiques, commissioning bespoke furniture, and curating artwork. The aim is to bring together a collection that feels cohesive, individual, and personally tailored to the project.
Budget & Purchasing
In parallel with the design process, a furniture list and budget are established. This provides a clear framework for decision-making and ensures the scale and scope of the furnishing align with expectations before procurement begins.
Procurement
Once the budget and selections are approved, procurement is managed in full — from orders and administration to logistics and storage. Where required, antique pieces can be restored or reupholstered to suit the project, bringing new life to existing items.
Installation
The process concludes with the installation of all furniture and accessories, arranged and styled to create a ready-to-move-in space. A follow-up stage ensures every detail is resolved and the finished environment works seamlessly for the client.
